You have spam

Well email is what I mean. With all the email addresses I have my PC now tells me I have mail before I log in.

I know my PC does not know if I got mail, it is just looking at the last report Outlook told it. You may have seen the same problem. A number of unread emails that will never go away. A number of things can cause this. You may have more than one bucket for incoming mail. You moved mail from the in-box to deleted by drag and drop. Or maybe outlook crashed and left the registry in a state of (You got lots of mail).

For those of you who are PC savvy the registry location is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
There will be a subkey for each email address you have or ever had. If you no longer have that email you can delete the subkey. Or if you want to clear the email count the dword value for "MessageCount" contains the number of unread emails for that address. Reseting any of them to zero won't hurt anything even if you have unread emails.

I have also created a simple program that will let you reset the values to zero. The following is a screen shot to the right. You can download it here.

Honey Bees Vanishing!

For the last 8 years cell phone frequencies have moved from the 900 Megahertz band up to micro wave frequencies. These higher frequencies were at one time very expensive to broadcast on. The introduction of new sophisticated circuits have given us the ability to broadcast and receive flawlessly on the same frequencies that where once limited to high tech satellites and cooking ovens. These microwaves are now flooding all around us. The first to be effected are small insects such as the honey bee. Their tiny bodies can not withstand the slight change of heat within and are dying off or leaving the area. Our own technology is killing us with out anything such as a whimper from large groups such as PETA or our own Government who is here to protect our environment as well as the people who live in it. We need to act now or lose everything. My tests have shown the Honey Bees have died of cell collapse pinpointing to over heating such as cooking from within.

USB Storage

With the introduction of digital cameras, Apple's ipod, and high volume USB memory devices. The chances that an employee may carry protected data or copyrighted software out the door has become common. It is also possible that an employee may carry in stolen copyrighted software, or even a virus. Unlicensed software can result in extraordinary fines that can cripple a small business. If you are running a small or large business, it may be necessary to disable the USB ports on employee computers.
The following is the location within the system registry where Microsoft allows turning off or on the USB storage devices.

\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

The dword value for "Start" can turn on or off access to USB storage devices.
To disable USB access change the value to (4) to turn on external devices change it to (3)

I have included a simple program you may download to do it for you. USBADMIN.ZIP
